If you're running windows (xp, vista, or 7) via bootcamp/virtual machine, this may be of particular interest to you. I noticed that whenver I tried to edit a text box or chart in Microsoft Word or Excel, the program would crash after I finished typing the first letter. If you're running bootcamp, VMware Fusion, or Parallels, you should do the following to ensure your work is safe, even if you aren't using Microsoft Office.
- Open Control Panel (In most cases, Start>Control Panel)
- If you are in “View by Category”, go to “Clock, Language and Region" then “Change Keyboards or other input methods” and finally “Change Keyboards.” If you are in "View by Large icons", go to "Region and Language" and click on the "Keyboards and Languages" tab.
- Press the button “Add”
- Scroll down to “English (United States)” and expand.
- Check box “US”
- Press OK, then OK, and then OK.
